SAES, the Spanish reference company in underwater electronics, will attend this week to the 12th International Defence Industry Fair IDEF 2015 held in Istanbul, to promote their product and services in Eurasian region.

 

SAES – S.A. Electrónica Submarina, specialist in Underwater Electronics, participates with a stand (Hall 2 – 204/G) at IDEF 2015 from May 5 to 8. SAES will meet with Turkish authorities in order to promote their products and services and reach agreements. Sonar and On-board Systems

 

Sonar Products area will be specially promoted together to other systems designed to integrate into the combat systems of submarines and surface platforms as Acoustic Classification system (SICLA), the Undersea Acoustic Performance Prediction System (SEAPROF) and Own Noise Monitoring System (ONMS).

 

Furthermore, in the sonar area but specially indicated for the coast surveillance and protection, SAES also will expose the Intruder Detection Sonar – DDS-03 (Diver Detection Sonar).

 

DDS-03 is a frequency active sonar specially designed for the detection of divers and underwater vehicles both manned and unmanned (SDV, ROV or UUV), and focused to improve the maritime surveillance systems since it can be integrated in any security system besides the stand alone function.

 

DDS-03 sonar constitutes the last generation of the SAES DDS sonars, which have been successfully verified and validated in a wide variety of operational environments as deployment from vessels and in harbour, presence of closed and open circuit divers, presence of swimmers, tidal effect exposure, etc.

For Antisubmarine Warfare, SAES has developed a complete family of Sonobuoy Acoustic Processing systems (SPAS) capable of process the most advanced analog and digital sonobuoys, as well as a complete ground support equipment as Classification System (SICLA-ASW), Fast time Analyzer (FTAS) and Tactical Acoustic Trainer (TAT).

 

In this area, the Remote operation ASW System (ROASW) highlights. It is a new Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) solution that provides a unique and fully integrated ship/air weapon system, initially designed to enhance and extend the ship acoustic sensors. The ROASW system receives, controls and monitories remotely the acoustic and tactical information from deployed resources as well as ground systems.

SAES sponsors the XXXIV Golf Navy Championship

The AJEMA, who chaired the closing ceremony, was among the 85 participants.

 

The XXXIV Golf Navy Championship, which took place at the Costa Ballena Golf Course (Rota, Cádiz) between 24 and 25 April 2015, had the participation of 85 golfers who came from different Spanish cities.

Participants were divided into three categories according to their handicaps, playing in the form of stableford handicap. The champion of the Navy was established by the best result «scratch» within the game mode programmed (stable ford scratch). D. Alejandro Salmeron Vaca, Corporal of Spanish Marine, won for the second consecutive year the first place in the final Scratch Classification.

The closing ceremony was chaired by the Hon. Mr. Admiral Chief of Naval Staff Jaime Muñoz-Delgado y Díaz del Rio, with the assistance of various civil and military authorities, and the representation of collaborating companies, as SAES, on whose behalf attended by President Alfredo Gordo.

Eleven Spanish companies, developers of technological solutions in the defense sector, have met with the acquisition responsible of US Armed Forces (Office of Comparative Technology/Special Operations; U. S. Army/Marine Corps; U. S. Navy and Air Force) in the second edition of the «Spanish Defense Industry Day» organized through the Defense Cooperation Attaché’s Office in collaboration with the International Relations Office of the General Directorate for Armament and Materiel (DGAM).

 

The SAES product “ROASW – Remote Operation ASW System” has aroused the interest of members of Comparative Technology Office (CTO) belonging to the Office of Secretary of Defense, being SAES one of the eleven companies selected to join this meetings by which the CTO, through the Foreign Comparative Testing Program (FCT), identify, test and evaluate foreign products and military equipment which could become reliable alternatives which might be of interest due to their cost efficiency and ease of acquisition for the U. S. Armed Forces.

 

This second edition has been in great demand on the part of Spanish companies so that the Office of Evaluation had to make a previous selection process, being overcome by Spanish leading companies such as SAES, Navantia or Indra. «They search new technological developments, competitive price, and products that involve a significant improvement,» says the Head of Anti-submarine Warfare Business Line of SAES, responsible for providing detailed information about ROASW system.

Remote Operation ASW (ROASW) System

 

ROASW system is a two system segment (Surface Segment ROASW-SS & Airborne Segment ROASW-AS) capable to operate an ASW/ASuW mission by means of controlling remotely from the ROASW-SS manned/unmanned air vehicle in order to receive via data relay (STANAG 7085 compliance) the acoustic and tactical information from sensors (passive, active and digital). Also, the ROASW-SS is capable to receive from the ROASW-AS non acoustic information like Radar and EO.

 

ROASW system meets with the requirements for improving the success of the ASW missions by reduced impact and cost equipment. Additionally, the system collaborates in a Network Centric Warfare (NCW) allowing quick and agile networked decisions. ROASW provides three communication modes:
• Line Of Sight Surface-To-Helo (S2H): from the ROASW-AS, the ROASW system relays SBY data together with the annotation and complementary data, AWR and FLIR/TV video through a data link (STANAG 7085) to the ROASW-SS.
• Line Of Sight Surface-To-Surface (S2S): tactical and intelligence information is interchanged between two ROASW-SS platforms through a data link (STANAG 7085).
• Surface-To-Satellite (S2SAT): tactical and intelligence information is interchanged beyond LOS through a satellite network.
ROASW system provides a unique, fully integrated ship/air weapon system, initially designed to enhance and extend the ship acoustic sensors. ROASW system also enhances the Anti Surface Warfare (ASuW) and specially the Anti Ship Surveillance and Targeting (ASST) mission extending ship’s horizon of Non-Acoustic Sensors (NAS).

 

The Swedish Royal Navy has equipped their Visby class corvettes with the ROASW system.

Antisubmarine (ASW) warfare based on Sonobuoy Processing

The SAES products related to the ASW warfare based on sonobuoy processing are some of the fields that have aroused most interest.

 

Building on more than 25 years of expertise in acoustic processing, SAES has developed a complete family of airborne Sonobuoy Processing Acoustic Systems (SPAS) that covers MPA and Helo ASW operations, as well as provides the core for the ROASW System concerning remote exploitation of Acoustic and Non-Acoustic sensors (NAS).

 

SPAS allows the concurrent processing of up to 64 analogue and digital sonobuoys and provides all the necessary tools to allow passive detection, classification and tracking of submarines and surface ships. SPAS is a unique, modular, scalable and fully operative system that can be integrated the aircraft / helo tactical mission system. In fact, SPAS is installed and fully operative in aircrafts (P-3A/B/M Orion MPA and C-295 MPA aircraft), Helicopters (SH-60B LAMPS and HKP15 A-109) and Surface Ships (Visby class corvettes).

DDS-03. Intruder Detection Sonar

The high-frequency active sonar DDS-03 has been specifically designed for the detection of underwater threats such as divers and manned and unmanned underwater vehicles (SDV, ROV or UUV), off­ering protection and surveillance against the potential threat in ports, critical facilities, shipwrecks, environmentally protected areas, special events and anchored boats.

Their high acoustic performance, powerful detection range and wide range of features for detection and tracking of targets, alarms, classification and communication systems make the DDS-03 essential for security and surveillance underwater.

Additionally, the Deterring System (DES) can warn non-authorized divers of being in a protected area and emit dissuasive acoustic signals if needed.

 

SAES participates in two papers at the International Conference «Underwater Acoustic 2014» in Greece.

The articles, entitled «Measurement and modeling of fading in ultrasonic Underwater channels» and «SIRAMIS: preliminary analysis of Acoustic and seismic signatures ship» have been presented on 24 and 25 June respectively to an audience that brings together the leading experts involved in research in underwater acoustics.

SAES has been developing for over twenty-five years its expertise in underwater acoustics within the defense naval sector. Over the years, this skill has expanded also to civil applications.

As a leader company in the study, design and manufacturing of systems for Security and Defense based on Underwater Acoustic, SAES makes part of national and international consortiums, created to develop R&D&I projects.

SAES in UDT 2014. ASW Solutions for the modern ASW framework.

SAES will present in the Conference UDT (Undersea Defense Technology) – Europe 2014 a paper about ASW systems solutions that meet with the new necessities of ASW missions.

The emergence of new military technologies has dramatically affected to the traditional Concept of Operation of the Anti Submarine Warfare Missions (ASW). Modern submarines have technological advances in enhanced propulsion, quieting techniques and coordinated weapons technologies. In turn, new geopolitical scenarios in the world constrain naval forces involved in the ASW missions to the littoral waters.
